Sage Z-Axis Series Fly Rods and Outfits
MAGIC Replacing what is quite possibly the most popular fast action fly rod in the world takes a lot of ... well, research and development. It also takes something so good you can confidently move forward without a backward glance. In short, it takes a fly rod with nearly magical properties. How did Sage create a rod that's significantly lighter, stronger and easier to cast for anglers of all skill levels? The answer isn't a simple buzzword or an easily described new material. The Z-Axis is the latest version of the Generation 5 (G5) Technology and is defined by improvements across the entire rod building process. The Sage analysis software helped to better evaluate the performance requirements of every inch of the rod blank allowing elimination of all unnecessary material. Significant advances in Aligned Fiber Technology, replaced traditional glass hoop fibers with lighter, more responsive graphite, which required development of new construction techniques to align and compress these fibers for maximum strength. Sage rod designer, Jerry Siem went back to the drawing board (in and out of the water) to create improved taper designs for each Z-Axis rod. The G5 process him an opportunity to reach previously unattainable levels of line feel, response and performance. It also allowed him to design rods that better fit the modern casting style, with the tip strength to bail you out on a missed stroke and the power to more easily punch flies into the wind. The Z-Axis 3-6 weight rods come standard with the finest components and flora cork grips in the industry. Up-locking nickel silver hardware, burl hardwood reels seats with reverse half wells cork grips. The finest components for the finest rod in the industry. (Handle Style A) The Small Grip Series Cork Handles (Handle A and B with Smaller Diameter) A new feature added by Sage with the most popular rod models. The smaller diameter grips allow for more finesse, comfort and feel while casting and fishing. Small Grip Series is also excellent for anglers with smaller hands. The Z-Axis 6-10 weight rods come standard with a premium black anodized aluminum up-locking saltwater seat, fighting butt and a flora grade full wells premium cork grip. (Handle Style B)
